(For maybe 1 or 2 other people, though I'm not stingy)
After tasting...whatever that was, Haruka's first thought was to investigate the kitchen and see what exactly went into making that brunch.
While she was making her way to the silvery doors that presumably lead to the kitchen, she realized...maybe she was too critical of the food. They were feeding around twenty students and God-knows-how-many staff. Then again, she's been at fundraiser dinners and charity brunches with more than one hundred people present, and the students were literally the best in the nation, possibly the world, and they deserved much, much better. She made a mental note to bring it up with the waitstaff, if she found one, or possibly the currently nameless headmaster if she could get an audience with him. And she will.
The kitchen, though impressive and definitely very expensive, had obviously been used. Didn't the staff know to clean up their awful messes? Another thing to bring up with the people in charge. There was flour scattered among the cutting boards, the oven still had a pan on it, possibly for those God-awful, rubbery eggs and the too-thin bacon, and at least one rice cooker was left open. However...if the kitchen was been used this much, then it's possible none of it was processed, or store bought, or even pre-frozen. At least there was the slightest hint of care.
To be honest, she did hope that things would look up soon. The cardboard keys, the "A.I.", the absent authority...if things kept failing to meet expectations, she might have to work hard to make it better, and if that meant taking charge by force...well, it's not like she would mind.

Daniel wasn't sure if "deciding to explore the building" meant "make a beeline for the kitchen first" was considered rude or not, but the kitchen was a part of the building, and he wanted to look at the place where his food was made anyway. It was possible that he could get hungry late at night and had the need for a sandwich or two before going back to sleep.
When he opened the doors, though, he didn't expect someone to be there already. A quick glance later, the Procrastinator saw that Haruka was already standing there. He didn't know what she looked for, but in the end it didn't matter to him. In any case, as long as she didn't initiate a conversation with him, he had nothing to worry about.
"They sure were in a hurry, weren't they?", he thought as he looked at the mess in the kitchen. "Oh well, it'll be cleaned soon enough anyway. That's not my job."
He then felt an urge to open the fridge, but he had to restrain himself. "What's your problem, body? You just ate! You'll get something new in a few hours, be patient dammit!"
Then he scratched his head, unsure of what he should do next.

Haruka was currently investigating the oven, looking at its many impressive and interesting features. She heard the kitchen door open and close behind her, but she didn't care. However, once her concentration was broken by the sound of the refrigerator opening and someone rummaging around in it, she suddenly wanted to see the person that apparently forgot about the other person in the room. She jerked her head towards the direction of the refridgerator, like someone was pulling her forehead with a length of string, and saw that German boy...Daniel, wasn't it? Haruka tried long and hard to remember his talent from the introductions that she barely paid any attention to.
She remembered. Procrastinator. That is not a talent. It takes no effort to procrastinate. It doesn't take any talent at all. It was an insult to the Hope's Peak program to even include him among actually talented people like herself. He was surely lacking in academic skill and knowledge, and he probably didn't even have any practical skills at all. He probably didn't even know anything practical. Politics, cooking, writing, intermediate arithmetic, caligraphy...how much Japanese did he know? If any. She vaguely remembered that he stuttered through his introduction at brunch. It was probably translated using the first online website he found and memorized. Did he even know how to write Kanji? Katakana? She now wanted to strike up a conversation with him, if only to see how bad his speaking really was.
Haruka approached Daniel, not bothering to tap him on the shoulder or give any other notification to her presence.
"You are the German boy, right? The "Procrastinator"? Tell, me, why do you think that's a talent?"

"Hmm, nothing here I could still eat. Meh, whatever..." Daniel's attempt at restraining himself failed and he had a little look-see in the fridge. Not having succeeded in finding something edible that wasn't already in the Dining Hall, he closed the fridge.
Before he turned around, however, the sound of Haruka's voice filled his ears.
"Well, crap. I knew I shouldn't have come here. Maybe I'll just answer her questions and then she'll leave me alone."
The Procrastinator then cleared his throat in order to reply more efficiently, as he expected of himself. "Yes, I am the German student, and yes, Ultimate Procrastinator is my title." He then grinned slightly to himself and continued. "Heh, it got me into Hope's Peak Academy, didn't it? I know very well myself that my talent is lackluster compared to everyone else here, but I'll deal with it. Besides, there probably were much stranger talents accepted into the history of the school."
Daniel's voice then turned slightly sarcastic. "Wouldn't you agree, Ms. Seitokaicho?"

Haruka had to admit that this Daniel boy was...slightly more verbose than his initial introduction would have suggested, but...his "talent", if it could even be called that, left a lot to be desired. She shook her head when Daniel addressed her by her title, not even impressed that he devoted the mental power to remembering it. "Please, only address me as 'Haruka' or 'Haruka Kobayashi', not those stupid nicknames," She leaned forward, slightly crossing her arms. "Now tell me - which family are you from? I'm aware of a lot of prominent German dynasties...excuse me, 'powerful families, but I've never heard of the...what was it? Saotomes?" Haruka corrected herself, remembering that Daniel probably wasn't as smart as he could be. "Did your parents bribe anyone? It's simply unfeasible...'not possible' that someone who's talent is not applying himself to his studies to his fullest extent would be invited to attend Hope's Peak. It's an insult to the program and an embarassment to the students who have actually worked for their invitation."

"Well, she's sitting on a high horse, isn't she?" Daniel only shrugged, already getting annoyed by Haruka's inquiring of his entire being. "Okay then, Haruka. You want answers? You can have them!"
He then slightly crouched and pointed upwards with both of his pointer fingers, even though nothing was on the ceiling. "Believe it or not: I wasn't descended from any kings, emperors or gods! You can look at any history book you'd like, you won't find me or my family anywhere. Unbelievable, right?"
Finishing his little stunt, he normalized his posture. "Nobody was bribed. I think I'd know if my parents or me decided to bribe the officials of the school. "
"Does she think I'm stupid or what? She doesn't need to correct herself so often... How annoying.", he thought to himself.
Nevertheless, he continued on. "Not everyone can work on their studies day in, day out. I just do what's necessary and then enjoy the other fine things in life, you know? In any case, I don't see what's so 'insulting' or 'embarrassing' about my talent. See it this way: Hope's Peak Academy doesn't discriminate at all. The school doesn't care where you're from or what you can do best. If you can get their attention, they'll pick you."
With that, he sighed.

Oh my God, this man really is an idiot. Haruka sighed, placing her hand over her face, suddenly feeling ashamed for even bothering to talk to this boy. "What are you, a child? Stop acting so flamboyant and immature. You're just embarrassing yourself further." She shook her head again after he finished running off his mouth. "Well, apparently, someone wasn't thinking right when they sent you an invitation. You don't have a talent, you're just a ignorant little boy who hasn't realized that letting the world take care of his problems and float through his life like a leaf in the breeze will only lead to ruin and failure. Maybe once you grow out of your immature delusions you'll be able to actually apply yourself and learn a trade or a skill that will keep you afloat for the last few decades of your life..." She chuckled a little. "Because, let's agree that your current disposition won't lead to any academic success, which will result in you not going to any accredited university despite your admission to Hope's Peak, and you probably won't be able to keep a steady job, so unless you manage to devote yourself to learning a sort of manual labor, you're pretty much doomed to a life of homelessness, odd jobs, favors, perhaps depression, alcoholism, maybe drug abuse...you're just not ready for the true way the world works." Despite what she just said, Haruka kept smiling warmly, and maybe a bit menacingly. She always liked doing this.

Daniel sighed again, now visibly annoyed. "Oh, it seems as if you're done already. Do you think you're being original? Because you're not. What you've said, I heard hundreds of times before. Who cares if I'm going to fail in life? Why do you care so much? Nevermind, forget it."
He then began to walk towards the exit of the kitchen.
Then he turned around and spoke once more. "Death won't care if you've worked hard in life or not. Once you're 6 feet underground, the maggots will eat you as well. Same way as me. Everyone's the same when they're dead, no matter how or when they died. And my life is my own business. I'll live it the way I want to. Good day to you."
With these words, he left Haruka to her own devices. Her words struck like knives into an unsuspecting back, but the Procrastinator won't let her faze him anymore than she already did.
"Wow, this one's harsh as hell, and she's actually right with a few things. But I won't stroke her ego. There's no way I can let her know that she was right, though."
Finally, he opened the kitchen door and went through it.
"I'd better avoid her every chance I get."

Everyone's the same when they're dead, no matter how or when they died. And my life is my own business. I'll live it the way I want to. Good day to you." Haruka stopped smiling after Daniel's rebuttal... ...It was the worst, laziest attempt at a refutation she'd ever seen. She had had this conversation a million times when she had to confront petulant underclassmen who wouldn't study, and they usually had some sort of passable excuse as to why. "I'm having trouble at home!", "My friend/lover is taking up my time!", "I'm in too many clubs!"...they were all horrible answers, but they were justifiable. This boy's? It amounted to "I don't care! We'll all be dead soon!". It was a horrible, depressing, all-together poorly thought out and horribly articulated thought. Haruka sighed as Daniel exited. She hoped he would see reason soon, before his laziness would catch up to him and lead him to a coffin apartment with a job at a convenience store when he could be at a top university. So much wasted potential.
