David was an average school student in most aspects, excepting his extraordinary talent in the pure sciences. Things started to change after his internship at UlyssesCorp, a pharma firm. The firm noticed his talent after he inadvertently fixed a problem in one of their poison antidotes.
However, when they wanted to fund his studies, they faced an obstacle. No college was willing to accept a 13-year old kid as a future toxicologist, he was considered too young to handle toxins. Surprisingly, UlyssesCorp decided to help him by forging his papers and convincing his uncle (guardian) by promising David a bright future.
Sadly, their elaborate scheme was foiled by a disgruntled employee. After imposing heavy fines on UlyssesCorp, the government decided to hand over the guardianship of David to Hope's Peak, trusting that they were capable of grooming a young toxicologist. David personally feels that he would rather complete his degree rather than stay in his current 'prison', but as he developed friendships with the other students, he began to have second thoughts. He sometimes worries about UlyssesCorp's ulterior motives.

General Personality:
Generally calm and composed, he does not like to be verbose and dramatic. Rather, he prefers to just observe and comment if required. As a simple consequence of the title he carries, he tends to be shy and solitary, further heightening the antisocial influence of his name. But those who can look past that find that he is a man truly devoted to his cause and his friends.
However, if angered, he becomes loud and rude i.e. the antithesis of his usual self. This often involves mild swearing, forceful fist gestures and flying insults. In this state of mind, he can be anything from overbearing to cynical. He is also brash and violent in extreme cases, and those who put up a fight become the victims of unrestrained fury, although David may be worse off in the end. To this aim, he is willing to put himself at risk of certain injury.
His analytical turn of mind is clearly visible, and may attract or drive off acquaintances. Despite his visible preferences for courses of action that involve logic and probability (risk), he still holds scruples against the worst sin, that of murder, especially by exploiting his incredible knowledge of all poisons and toxins. This was perhaps fostered by the prejudice he faced in his circle of acquaintances, as society considered him the equivalent of an apothecary. Of course, the disintegration of society has led to his ethics changing. Now, he will kill, but only to protect himself or someone worthy of protection, and to ease a criminal's pain, should he ever execute justice.
