The Basics
Name: Sakura Watanabe
Nicknames: None~
Age: 16
Grade: First Year
Appearance:
Sakura Watanabe is a pretty average-looking teenage girl. She’s a bit on the short side- a fact she is constantly annoyed about- and a little chubby, the chubby part being the reason that she prefers loose fitting clothes. She has short, black hair that barely brushes the tops of her shoulders and her eyes are dark brown (not purple like in the picture: some camera filters do… interesting things). Sakura always has a dusting of red on her cheeks even when she’s not blushing and, when she does blush, her whole face turns a bright red and it’s a very amusing sight. Due to her nice, friendly personality, many of the people around her call her ‘cute’, a compliment that makes her sputter incoherently before outright denying it. She doesn’t think she’s cute or short or weak, but she really is.
Sakura’s outfit of choice is a messy version of a normal school uniform. She wears a white dress shirt, the top button undone, under an oversized, light yellow sweater and a navy blue skirt that falls to almost her knees with a pair of exercise shorts underneath. Sakura also wears white knee socks, but the elastic in them is worn out, so they are a wrinkled mess that hang around her ankles. Her shoes are brown leather flats that are about a size too big and have been the cause of some very messy falls.

Talent: SHSL Lawyer – as the child of two high-ranking lawyers, Sakura has an extensive knowledge of the law and a strong sense of justice. Sakura was chosen to come to Hope’s Peak because of her talent for settling arguments and winning many of the mock trials she’s participated in.
Mini-Profile: Though Sakura’s parents were lawyers, their family- which consisted of Sakura, her parents, a younger brother, and two dogs- lived in a small apartment that always felt too small for how many people and pets were packed in there on a daily basis. This cramped, almost claustrophobic atmosphere at home is what made her visits to the library by her house- which was large and airy and never crowded- more and more frequent as she got older. Sakura grew up reading all about everything; she read about fashion and astronomy and history and philosophy. But, after years of listening to her parents talk about the legal system and personal rights and the injustice of society, she began to submerge herself in books about the law. She read about cases and appeals and people who got away with it and evidence that got thrown out because of people’s carelessness. Although Sakura was adamant about not following in her parents’ footsteps- because she was her own, original person, thank you very much-, she slowly began to fall in love with the law. She liked how the laws themselves were black and white, but, when put into practice, everything was in a gray area.
During middle school, Sakura joined the debate team and, after winning almost all of her debates, she was recommended for a mock trial program that allowed the best and the brightest who were interested in law to get a closer look at the legal system and even battle against each other in fake trials. Sakura lost her first case, but won her second. And then her third. And then her fourth. Her winning streak continued until it was impossible to ignore the fact that she was not just good- she was amazing. She excelled behind the scenes and when she was the one trying the case, despite her slight stage fright.
Now, Sakura has put her mock trial career and internships at her parents’ firms on hold for a bit so that she can attend the peace meetings- an event she was invited to by Hope’s Peak that seemed to be right up her alley. Helping out at the peace meetings will probably look great on her future job applications!

The Details
General Personality: At her core, Sakura is a kind, happy person who loves to cheer other people up. She tends to get too involved with other people’s drama, trying to help her friends or even strangers solve their problems when it’s none of her business. Sakura is a very intelligent girl, although she hates to call herself smart because she feels that she’s only of average intelligence, but she gets bored with subjects quite easily and her grades suffer accordingly. She needs shocking twists and excitement to give it her full attention—and she has found these things in many of the cases she’s read. While she still ranks respectable in her classes, she’s nowhere near number one in anything. Sakura is fine with her lower class rank, but she hates when people want to compare grades or rank. If theirs is higher than hers, she feels like they’re trying to make her feel stupid and be huffy and annoyed with them for a while.
Sakura likes most people, but, if someone gets on her bad side, she becomes very passive aggressive and cold towards them. She’ll snub them and even outright ignore them. This isn’t a common occurrence though because Sakura prefers to avoid the drama disliking a person brings.
Sakura is also an extremely clumsy person; she falls all the time, sometimes down flights of stairs, sometimes over her own two feet. She also has a habit of walking into things when she’s not paying attention- like when she’s walking and reading a book, for example. She’s also a disorganized, messy person, which is something most people don’t expect from a lawyer-to-be. Her room always looks like someone came in and ransacked the place. This disorganization and messiness is sometimes the cause of her most spectacular falls- such as falling over a pillow and injuring her knee because she left the pillow in the middle of the floor under a bunch of dirty clothing and she didn’t notice it. All in all, Sakura is a happy, clumsy girl who likes to talk to people and who loves to educate people about her favorite cases.
Likes: Books, comfy clothing, legal cases, pop music, animals, and any type of candy.
Dislikes: People who are rude or two-faced, loud noises, being in a small space with a ton of other people, the scent of blood, people who are too touchy-feely
Hobbies: Playing basketball (even though she usually gets injured when doing it), watching horror movies, writing stories, reading terrible romance novels, going places with friends
Aspirations: Sakura hopes to be the best prosecutor in the country and maybe one day even being a judge. She’s sure that with her mock trial experience, knowledge of the law, and, now, her attendance at Hope’s Peak will be enough to get her into a great law school and help her land a job in the district attorney’s office somewhere. Her short-term goal is to raise her class rank so that she’ll have an even better chance into getting into a good university.
