The Librarian was standing now, but her legs felt like rubber cement. Words ran through her mind and tumbled away into darkness, never able to be spoken. She could only faintly feel herself trembling, but her body was in a fog, obscured from her mind. A Killing Game...with that wretched bear facilitating it. Somewhere deep in her mind, Paris battled with the concept of her own death. Perhaps...her character arc included it. But she refused to be anybody's character right now. No, she reassured herself. I am a living person. Not a story.
Looking around her with a slight reprieve from her fear, her eyes widened at the sight of...Calhoun, wasn't it? Daichi Calhoun, the Primadonna. She looked heartbroken, terrified. Perhaps Paris knew better than to try to approach her, but in her state...she took a deep breath and steadied herself, forcing her legs to move forward, albeit awkwardly. It was time for Paris to pay forward all the kindness she had been shown by the others before this turn of events.
“E-Excuse me, Miss...Er, Calhoun.” She had to admit, Calhoun looked a bit older than a highschool student. She made a mental note to avoid calling her Miss again. “Calhoun...” She kneeled down next to her, offering her a small smile as she felt her own tears threatening to fall. No, she wasn't going to let herself...not until she was alone. A brave face could make a difference at this point, even if it was painful to fake. She cleared her throat nervously. “It's...It's going to be okay.”

this couldntbehappening it had to be a sick joke what was going on could thisreallybe real why was this happening what hadshe done todeserve this why why why wh ywh yw WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY it was all because of that stupid fucking bear and his goddamn sick game why did he think she deserved this she was a nice person she didnt hurt people she just wanted to live and be happy but she was going to die die DIE DIE DIE DIE HERE ALONE IN SOME MANSION AND NOBODY WOULD EVER FIND HER WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY "E-Excuse me, Miss...Er, Calhoun."
The voice snapped her out of her thoughts, forcing her to resurface in the real world. She was still in the Ballroom, where she'd been sat, curled in a corner and crying, since the announcement had been made. Most others had slowly filtered out, off to deal with the shock in their own way. Hers was to have a breakdown.
“Calhoun...”
It was... the Librarian, right? The short androgynous kid. She'd had them pegged as a girl initially, but the more she looked the less sure she was. Either way, Calhoun stared at her with wide eyes and tear-stained cheeks. It was a pitiful sight, really. The flamboyant and self-assured Prima Donna laid low.
“It's...It's going to be okay.”
She sniffed, eyes still slightly brimming with tears. Had the Librarian come to... comfort her?
"Y-You don't know that..." The redhead replied, her usually magical voice shaking weakly. "W-We could all b-be killed in our sleep... You c-could be... Anyone could..." Calhoun trembled, fear slowing the workings of her brain. Anyone could be out to kill her, even the Librarian. Her eyes grew wide with fear as she realised she was open and vulnerable.
In one swift motion she got up to her feet, attempted to run, and caught herself on her dress. The momentum caused her to fall, face first, back onto the floor. There she lay, weakly attempting to get back up, trembling and crying.
"P-Please- I'm sorry- whatever you do, don't k-k-k-" She pleaded with her imagined foe. ~ GREY!

Paris stared in disbelief at the girl on the floor, trying to form the words to reply. They...hadn't had the time to really process how easy it would be for anyone to die. The students were all just kids, some more unhinged than others. Paris had been so caught up in arcs, and stories, and literary tropes...Calhoun's words struck a chord deep within them. Were they really...all going to die? Maybe...maybe talking to people was pointless. As much as that thought nagged and whispered in their ear, they had to shake it off and think of other things. No, they weren't completely doomed. If books had any one connecting theme, it was that there was always a way out. And after all, life was the ultimate story!
As the Primadonna tried to escape and failed, Paris cringed at the noise of her hitting the floor. It was sickly, and a little too reminiscent of a short time ago, when the School Council President had almost died herself. The girl looked absolutely pathetic, and it hurt to see one of the more charismatic people fade away like a burning page. Slowly, Paris held out their hand to her. “C-Calhoun...I promise that I... can't hurt you. L-look at me. If I even...attempted...you could end it quickly. You have to have hope...okay?” They felt their smile reappearing, genuine this time. Regretfully, it was because the girl wasn't as strong as they had assumed. Another upper hand that made it easier for Paris to rationalize being friendly. They knelt down then, looking at her and sighing. “You...probably d-don't trust me at all. I guess I'm not...as good as Amy—er, Amelia, sorry. She's a...lot m-more bubbly, right? But maybe... they're the ones we have to be careful about. My name's P-Paris. Nice to...meet you.”

Calhoun trembled on the floor, staring wide-eyed like a deer in headlights. But the Librarian seemed... calm. Gentle. If Calhoun was a scared animal, they were the kind person carefully approaching to tend her wounds. They smiled, warm and welcoming, and the redhead flinched a little. Smiles could be false.
A hand reached out, offering to take hers. The blonde knelt down, and Calhoun felt... calm. Calmer, at least. Being exposed to one of her greatest fears was going to shake her for a while before she returned to normal. But for now, it seemed she was being offered genuine human compassion.
A weak smile took her face, her lip still shaking from worry, as she took the Librarian's hand. Pulled up, back on her feet, dusting herself off.
"My name's P-Paris. Nice to...meet you.” They said, now that Calhoun was standing again. She smiled down at Paris - she'd realised they were short, but it wasn't that obvious until she stood next to them - and gently placed a hand on their shoulder.
"Thank... thank you." Calhoun replied, voice still wavering but composure slowly being regained. "I... I promise I won't hurt you either, okay? This situation is- is bad enough. I hope we get out of here soon..." She sighed, muttering something about a drink under her breath. Her eyes scanned the room, and on seeing no sign of furniture she shrugged and decided to sit on the floor again with her back pressed against the wall. Calhoun looked up at Paris, gently patting the space next to her as if it was inviting.
With a forlorn smile, her eyes faced the ground and she sighed.
"Hope, eh?" Calhoun muttered, before chuckling to herself. "I haven't had that in a long time. Not sure how I'm supposed to start now." ~ GREY!

Paris' eyes burned as their heart raced and pressed against their rib cage, threatening to explode. Oh god, what were they doing? This was too fast, too fast and their mind raced with possibilities. The girl was a wildcard right now. If she really wanted to, she could just stand up and kill Paris where they stood. Still, they tried to maintain a confident look. Even if it had wavered, Calhoun would know Paris wasn't going down easily.
Of course, it began to dissipate as she took their hand and rose to her feet. She seemed...better. Not happier, but more resigned. Or... maybe she was just OK for now. A character with depth. No, a real person. Paris reminded themself. The girl was tall, and her hand felt like fire on the other's shoulder. Physical contact. Friendly, not dangerous. But still, she was gaining the upper hand now.
“Thank...thank you.” she had said, and then she made a promise that they could only pray was true. Paris had heard it before, and it wasn't always kept. But this was another day, another person, another situation.
“Y-You're right...we're in a pretty...b-bad scenario.” They slumped down next to their new friend, looking at her and sighing. “We have to get out of here. That's how...that's how murder mysteries go.” They put their hand over their mouth, looking away. Okay, that sounded bad. Really bad. “S-S-Sorry...I'm just...hm.” They huffed once more. “I'm really... a bit scared.” they admitted. “Some of us...seem a little unbalanced enough to...But they won't. W-We have to... convince them.” The tears weren't going to come today, Paris promised themself. Not only they were alone. The other student's words threw them off, though. “W-Well...you have to start s-small, right? S-Sure, you're not one of the valiant heroes from the tragics. But you can start by...trusting us. Me. Hope that our peers...believe in harmony. Y-You have to resist whatever...whatever that evil bear throws at you. I know his type. He's...he's quite a stereotype. A cartoony villain...brazen, cunning, but don't mistake it for his intelligence...he seems tricky, but we just need to... outsmart him.” They began to smile nervously, afraid the rant had bored the Primadonna. “ T-That was a bit much. Sorry...” {paging Daichi Calhoun ! sorry this is so late ; o ;}
